We believe that Double D’s servicing and support back-up is unrivalled in the UK in that cover is available 24/7 every day of the year, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. We have a team of six engineers working in the field at all times, and if you have a problem our objective is to tackle the job within 48 hours.

Our engineers are intentionally sited so they are never more than 100 miles away from a job at any one time – no matter where it is in the UK – and they will stay on site until the problem is solved.

We also offer servicing packages, which include regular maintenance visits and annual servicing. As 95% of Double D’s equipment is gas-fired, annual servicing is a legal requirement, so our service team can take the responsibility of managing all requirements, leaving you to focus on the bigger picture.

Technical Support and Training

Achieving consistently good results from its baking and processing equipment has always been a key aim for Double D, which has recently enhanced and expanded its training opportunities.

A range of training programmes is available either at Double D’s Tech Centre near Edinburgh, or on site at customers’ premises. The one or two day courses target different personnel levels including operators, product development specialists and engineers.

The aim is to ensure that customers are aware of a product’s full capabilities to gain maximum benefit and ensure continuity of customers’ product knowledge.

Training programmes can also be tailored to suit particular food lines or recipes.

Double D Food Engineering’s Tech Centre forms part of the company’s 40,000 square feet factory premises near Edinburgh in the UK.

Here, our customers come from all over the world to try out Double D products at first hand using their own recipes and specifications, under expert supervision from a trained technical team.

The full range of Double D products is available for trial and you can have as many trials as you wish until you achieve the desired results.

We believe that a trip to Double D’s Tech Centre is a small investment to make for a piece of equipment which will last for up to 20 years.

Our Technology

Since Double D was established 30 years ago, there have been many changes in the food industry. This is why Double D invests heavily in new technology to meet the increasingly complex demands of its customers.

Double D’s many innovative design features are designed and tested in-house ensuring consistently high standards of quality and manufacture are maintained.

This includes Double D’s sophisticated air distribution system which it believes is unrivalled in producing a consistently even cook and colour on any given product.

All Double D products are custom-built using sophisticated Cad-Cam and laser technology to create products to meet specific needs.

Revoscan

The Revoscan is a customised SCADA software system developed specifically for Double D’s range of products. Revoscan records every cook, including production data, cook events, alarms and operator actions.

It means you can store detailed records of all individual connected cookers for up to five actively queried years, providing a complete record of due diligence. Thereafter data can be recorded forever as historical files.

With the ability to integrate into your existing IT system, Revoscan also provides total back-up in the event of a power failure.

Bob was formerly an operations director for world-leading hardware technology group NCR, fulfilling a number of roles in the UK, China, Brazil and US. He is a time-served electronics engineer and holds a degree in Engineering & Manufacturing. He became managing director of Double D Food Engineering in July 2007.

Ian has been with Double D for over 20 years, taking over as sales and marketing director in 1994. Whilst retaining responsibility for managing UK sales and developing advertising and promotional programmes, his prime role is in promoting international growth through building and managing a network of overseas distributors.

Alec Wilson

Alec Wilson Double D OvensEngineering Manager

Alec has worked for Double D for most of his career, completing his apprenticeship in 1979 at Cox Denholm Bakery Engineering, Double D’s predecessor. Since then, he has progressed from workshop foreman to engineering manager. His key responsibilities are to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the drawing office, including the effective co-ordination of employees, materials, documentation and all aspects of design.

John’s background is in automation and control systems, having joined Double D from leading global manufacturers, Schneider Electric and Wonderware. John designed the latest generation of Double D equipment controllers and network products. He now has technical responsibility for the specification of the entire product range, working closely with the engineering team to ensure Double D’s development path matches changes in market demand, and meets customer requirements.

Gillian Watt

Gillian is the first point of contact for processing routine requests. She manages and schedules service enquiries instantly by pinpointing the position and availability of the nearest service engineer using a Global Positioning System and making arrangements for him to call. She also routes spare part enquiries through an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure same day dispatch.
